However, his passion for healthcare led him to pursue his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Pittsburgh, which he completed in 1988.

Dr. Herron’s commitment to service extends beyond civilian medicine. He dedicated a portion of his career to the United States Navy, beginning his journey as a commissioned officer in January 1990. His pursuit of radiology led him to Tulane University, where he was admitted to the radiology residency program in 1996. During this period, he remained active in the Navy Reserve, affiliating with DET C-New Orleans and Naval Hospital Pensacola. He further specialized in Women’s Imaging with a fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, concentrating on mammography and ultrasound.

Dr. Herron’s contributions to radiology and military medicine continued as he became the flight surgeon for VP-94 in New Orleans from 2001 to 2006. His extensive service also included medical missions in El Salvador, and later, he served as the Fleet Surgeon for the U.S. Naval Surface Forces, 4th Fleet.
